Net outflow of Rs 692.28 crore on 20 May 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 692.28 crore on 20 May 2016 compared with net inflow of Rs 319.86 crore on 19 May 2016. The net outflow of Rs 692.28 crore from the secondary equity markets on 20 May 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3051.58 crore and gross sales of Rs 3743.86 crore. On that day, the Sensex fell 97.82 points or 0.39% to settle at 25,301.90, its lowest closing level since 6 May 2016.

There was a net outflow of Rs 0.09 crore from 'primary markets & others' category on 20 May 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.06 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.15 crore.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 526.33 crore into the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 20 May 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 8347.69 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 13343.50 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 20 May 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 576.51 crore in this month so far (till 20 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 68.04 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 670.40 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 20 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
