Net outflow of Rs 723.80 crore on 22 August 2017
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 723.80 crore into the secondary equity markets on 22 August 2017 compared with net sales of Rs 2406.97 crore on 21 August 2017. On 22 August 2017, the Sensex rose 33 points or 0.11% to settle at 31,291.85, its highest closing level since 18 August 2017. FPIs sold shares for ninth straight session.
The net outflow of Rs 723.80 crore on 22 August 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3468.64 crore and gross sales of Rs 4192.44 crore.
There was a net outflow of Rs 617.61 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 22 August 2017, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5.91 crore and gross sales of Rs 9.74 crore.
FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 14670.30 crore into the secondary equity markets in August 2017 so far (till 22 August 2017). They had bought stocks worth a net Rs 4199.62 crore from the secondary equity markets in July 2017.
FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 28073.31 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2017 so far (till 22 August 2017). They had purchased shares worth a net Rs 12094.42 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 1435.72 crore from the category primary market & others' in August 2017 so far (till 22 August 2017). They had bought stocks worth a net Rs 972.54 crore from the category primary market & others' in July 2017.
