FPIs make heavy purchases

Net inflow of Rs 5292.83 crore on 3 July 2014

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 5292.83 crore on Thursday, 3 July 2014, compared with outflow of Rs 4126.29 crore on Wednesday, 2 July 2014.

The net inflow of Rs 5292.83 crore on 3 July 2014 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 8740.63 crore and gross sales of Rs 3447.80 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 973.04 crore into the secondary equity market on 3 July 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4414.67 crore and gross sales of Rs 3441.63 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had lost 17.46 points or 0.07% to settle at 25,823.75 on that day, its lowest closing level since 1 July 2014.

There was a net inflow of Rs 4319.79 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 3 July 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4325.96 crore and gross sales of Rs 6.17 crore.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 63219.50 crore in this calendar year so far (till 3 July 2014). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 113135.90 crore in 2013 calendar year.
