Net outflow of Rs 508.39 crore on 4 October 2017
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 508.39 crore into the secondary equity markets on 4 October 2017, compared with net outflow of Rs 520.71 crore on 3 October 2017. On 4 October 2017, the Sensex rose 174.33 points or 0.55% to settle at 31,671.71, its highest closing level since 22 September 2017.
The net outflow of Rs 508.39 crore on 4 October 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3978.08 crore and gross sales of Rs 4486.47 crore.
There was a net outflow of Rs 2.20 crore into the 'primary market & others' category on 4 October 2017, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.30 crore and gross sales of Rs 2.50 crore.
FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 2502.19 crore into the secondary equity markets in October 2017 so far (till 4 October 2017). They had sold stocks worth a net Rs 19973.64 crore into the secondary equity markets in September 2017.
FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 5856.73 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2017 so far (till 4 October 2017). They had purchased shares worth a net Rs 12094.42 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016.
