FPIs step up buying

Net inflow of Rs 572.54 crore on 26 April 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 572.54 crore on 26 April 2016, higher than net inflow of Rs 265.75 crore on 25 April 2016. The net inflow of Rs 572.54 crore into the secondary equity markets on 26 April 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4872.63 crore and gross sales of Rs 4300.09 crore. On that day, the Sensex had surged 328.37 points or 1.28% to settle at 26,007.30, its highest closing level since 1 January 2016.

There was an outflow of Rs 0.84 crore from 'primary markets & others' category on 26 April 2016.

FPIs have mopped up stocks worth a net Rs 7677.02 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 26 April 2016). FPIs bought stocks worth a net Rs 20720.56 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 12146.34 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 26 April 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

There has been a net inflow of Rs 64.08 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in this month so far (till 26 April 2016). There was an inflow of Rs 422.36 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 89.85 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 26 April 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
