FPIs step up buying

Net inflow of Rs 765.69 crore on 25 May 2017

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 765.69 crore from the secondary equity markets on 25 May 2017, higher than net inflow of Rs 357.41 crore on 24 May 2017. On that day, the Sensex surged 448.39 points or 1.48% to settle at 30,750.03, a record closing high for the index.

The net inflow of Rs 765.69 crore on 25 May 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 9157.66 crore and gross sales of Rs 8391.97 crore.

There was a net inflow of Rs 23.51 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 25 May 2017, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 23.84 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.33 crore.

FPIs have purchased stocks worth a net Rs 3845.14 crore from the secondary equity markets in May 2017 so far (till 25 May 2017). They sold stocks worth a net Rs 1645.32 crore in April 2017.

FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 38687.29 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2017 so far (till 25 May 2017). They had purchased shares worth a net Rs 12094.42 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016.
