FPIs turn net buyers

Net inflow of Rs 751.04 crore on 17 December 2015

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 751.04 crore during the previous trading session yesterday, 17 December 2015, compared with net outflow of Rs 392.23 crore on 16 December 2015.

The net inflow of Rs 751.04 crore into the secondary equity markets on 17 December 2015 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4108.43 crore and gross sales of Rs 3357.39 crore. On that day, the Sensex rose 309.41 points or 1.21% to settle at 25,803.78, its highest closing level since 3 December 2015.

There was a net inflow of Rs 0.37 crore from the category 'primary markets & others' on 17 December 2015, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.37 crore and nil gross sales.

FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 3692.77 crore into the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 17 December 2015). They have sold shares worth a net Rs 8413.23 crore into the secondary equity markets last month.

FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 5465.90 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015 so far (till 17 December 2015). They bought shares worth a net Rs 84440.80 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2014.
