Net outflow of Rs 586.59 crore on 4 January 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 586.59 crore during the previous trading session on 4 January 2016, compared with net inflow of Rs 227.19 crore on 1 January 2016.
The net outflow of Rs 586.59 crore from the secondary equity markets on 4 January 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 2130.39 crore and gross sales of Rs 2716.98 crore. On that day, the Sensex slumped 537.55 points or 2.05% to settle at 25,623.35, its lowest closing level since 22 December 2015.
There was a net inflow of Rs 11.71 crore into the category 'primary markets & others' on 4 January 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 12.37 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.66 crore.
FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 872.97 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 4 January 2016). FPIs sold stocks worth a net Rs 2588.54 crore into the secondary equity markets in December 2015.
