Net outflow of Rs 423.22 crore on 1 June 2017
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 423.22 crore into the secondary equity markets on 1 June 2017, compared with net inflow of Rs 1130.23 crore on 31 May 2017. On that day, the Sensex fell 8.21 points or 0.03% to settle at 31,137.59, its lowest closing level since 29 May 2017.
The net outflow of Rs 423.22 crore on 1 June 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4545.11 crore and gross sales of Rs 4968.33 crore.
There was a net outflow of Rs 27.59 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 1 June 2017, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 2.20 crore and gross sales of Rs 29.79 crore.
FPIs had bought stocks worth a net Rs 2807.24 crore in May 2017. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 38356.40 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2017 so far (till 1 June 2017). They had purchased shares worth a net Rs 12094.42 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016.
FPIs had purchased stocks worth a net Rs 4904.17 crore from the category 'primary market & others' in May 2017.
