Fund raising via private placement of bonds plunges 43.6% in April 2014

Number of issues increased to 300 in April 2014 from 206 issues in April 2013

Fund mobilization by listed companies through private placement of debt securities dipped 43.6% to Rs 23,574 crore in April over the same month last year. As per the SEBI data, the companies had raised Rs 41812 crore through private placement of debt securities in April 2013.

The total amount garnered in April 2014 also shows a decline of 29% compared to the funds mobilized worth Rs 33263 crore in the preceding month of March 2014.

However, the number of issues increased to 300 during April 2014 compared with 206 issues in the same period a year ago, while it was also more than 244 issues in March 2014.

Of the total funds raised in April 2014, about Rs 10651.75 crore was mobilised through issues only on the BSE, about Rs 9122.80 crore was raised by companies listed only on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Rs 3800 crore was from those listed on both the NSE and the BSE.
