Hero MotoCorp gains after robust sales in September

Hero MotoCorp rose 1.56% to Rs 2,886.25 at 13:05 IST on BSE after the company said it has clocked sales of 6 lakh units of two-wheelers in September 2014, a 30% growth over corresponding month last year.

The announcement was made after trading hours on Monday, 30 September 2014.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 55.65 points or 0.21% at 26,574.86.

On BSE, so far 32,000 shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 36,807 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 2,926.45 and a low of Rs 2,858.10 so far during the day. The stock had hit a record high of Rs 3,080 on 18 September 2014. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 1,907 on 21 February 2014.

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 30 September 2014, surging 8.97% compared with the Sensex's 0.03% fall. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, jumping 8.18% as against Sensex's 4.79% rise.

Hero MotoCorp said that the company has clocked sales of 6 lakh units of two-wheelers in the month of September 2014. This is a robust growth of more than 30% over the corresponding month last year, Hero MotoCorp said. As despatches will continue till midnight of 30 September 2014, the final tally for the month is expected to be much higher, Hero MotoCorp said. The company further said that it has clocked over 1.7 lakh units in retail sales during the first six days of Navratri this year, which is a growth of more than 15% over the corresponding period last year. Hero MotoCorp further said that the company has lined up over 10 new product launches, including refreshes and variants, which will reach all dealerships across the country during the current festive season.

Hero MotoCorp's net profit rose 2.6% to Rs 562.76 crore on 14.2% growth in net sales to Rs 6999.40 crore in Q1 June 2014 over Q1 June 2013.

Hero MotoCorp is the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer in terms of production capacity.
