India-Japan Friendship Forum (IJFF) would serve as an umbrella organisation to foster exchange of people and ideas

FICCI and the Embassy of Japan in India launched the 'India-Japan Friendship Forum' (IJFF). The Forum will be chaired by Ms Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, Former Indian Ambassador to Japan; Mr Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan to India would serve as the Chief Patron (Ex-officio) and FICCI will be the official secretariat managing the forum.

IJFF would draw membership from various Indian and Japanese Industry leaders and eminent individuals. The first Executive Committee meeting of this Forum was hosted by Ambassador of Japan to India, Mr Kenji Hiramatsu. Mr Hiramastu, Ambassador of Japan to India said that this unique institution will bring Indian and Japanese community closer and enhance cultural linkages.

Ms Wadhwa, said that the IJFF would bring Japanese knowledge and culture closer to Indians. Mr Sandip Somany, President, FICCI said that it was an honour for FICCI to join hands with the Embassy of Japan for this great initiative. India and Japan relationship attained a new level in recent times with strong initiatives of both the Governments. While business-to-business certainly assumes the centre stage, people-to-people connect has also gained momentum, augmenting the strategic partnership and making it more vibrant and dynamic. The aim of IJFF is to further deepen engagements on art, culture, knowledge, and tourism. IJFF would serve as an umbrella organisation for all the Indian and Japanese organisations to foster exchange of people and ideas.
