Overall refinery output up 2.6% in April-June 2015
India's crude oil refinery output jumped 6.2% to 18.873 million tonnes (mt) in June 2015 over June 2014, showing acceleration in the pace of growth from 5.9% growth recorded in the previous month May 2015. The output of public sector refineries surged 10.4% to 9.956 mt. The output of private refineries dipped 1.9% to 7.483 mt, while that of public-private JV refiners improved 27.6% to 1.434 mt in June 2015.Among public refineries, the output of Indian Oil jumped 17.4% to 4.553 mt, while the output of Mangalore Refineries moved up 29.6% to 1.309 mt in June 2015 over June 2014. The output of Numaligarh Refineries improved 2.8% to 0.261 mt and that of Chennai Petroleum also increased 6.7% to 0.891 mt. However, the output of Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum declined 6.1% to 1.064 mt and 1.7% to 1.873 mt in June 2015.
Among private refiners, the output of Essar Oil declined 3.4% to 1.589 mt, while that of Reliance Petroleum also slipped 1.5% to 5.894 mt in June 2015 over June 2014.
Among JV refineries, the output of Bharat Oman grew 16.5% to 0.572 mt, while the output of HPCL Mittal moved up 36.1% to 0.862 mt in June 2015 over a year ago.
The cumulative refinery output rose 2.6% to 54.221 mt in April-June 2015. The output of public refineries increased 7.5% to 28.709 mt, but that of private refineries dipped 3% to 21.993 mt. The refinery output of JV refineries improved 0.5% to 3.579 mt in June 2015 over June 2014. Among public refineries, the output of Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, Chennai Petroleum, Mangalore Refineries and Bharat Petroleum rose, while that of Numaligarh Refineries declined.
The overall capacity utilization was higher at 110.53% in June 2015 and 105.24% in April-June 2015 compared with 102.54% in June 2014 and 100.99% in April-June 2014.
