India's fuel product consumption rises 1.4% in April-January 2019-20

India's fuel product consumption or sales fell 0.6% to 18.41 million tonnes (mt) in January 2020 over a year ago. Diesel sales declined 1.9% to 6.94 mt, others 11.1% to 0.99 mt, kerosene 38.3% to 0.16 mt and petcoke 3.6% to 1.93 mt. Further, the consumption of bitumen also declined 10.2% to 0.59 mt, fuel oil 10.9% to 0.49 mt and light diesel oil (LDO) 11.6% to 0.06 mt. However, the consumption of naphtha improved 16.9% to 1.28 mt, LPG 6.1% to 2.45 mt, petrol 3.5% to 2.46 mt, lubes/greases 11.9% to 0.33 mt and ATF 2.5% to 0.74 mt in January 2020.

Consumption or sales of fuel products rose 1.4% to 178.67 mt in April-January 2020 over April-January 2019. Sales of petrol increased 7.9% to 25.31 mt, LPG 7.4% to 21.95 mt, petcoke 3.4% to 18.17 mt, and diesel 0.6% to 69.71 mt. Further, the consumption of lubes/greases also rose 4.8% to 3.06 mt, LDO 6.8% to 0.52 mt and others 0.1% to 9.81 mt. However, the consumption of kerosene declined 28.9% to 2.06 mt, naphtha 5.4% to 11.10 mt, fuel oil 8.5% to 5.03 mt, ATF 1.5% to 6.82 mt and bitumen 0.7% to 5.12 mt in April-January 2020.
