Mahindra Satyam (up 1.81%), Infosys (up 1.44%), Tech Mahindra (up 1.3%), Wipro (up 1.19%), HCL Technologies (up 1.05%), Oracle Financial Services Software (up 0.78%), TCS (up 0.74%) and Hexaware Technologies (up 0.52%), edged higher.
The BSE IT index was up 1.12% at 5,686.85. It outperformed the Sensex, which was up 0.24% at 19,287.96.
The BSE IT index had underperformed the market over the past one month till 21 December 2012, falling 1.05% compared with the Sensex's 4.23% rise. The index had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, falling 6% as against Sensex's 2.61% rise.
