Jain Irrigation Systems bags order worth Rs 127 cr from Rwanda Agriculture Board

Jain Irrigation Systems announced award of $18.27 million (Approx. Rs 127 crore) contract by Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB), Kigali, Rwanda for irrigation and watershed development (1220 /1752 Ha) in Mahama Sector under Export Targeted Modern Irrigated Agriculture Projects in Rwanda. The project will be executed near Rusumo (Rwanda Tanzania border).

The project is financed by EXIM Bank of India under Gov. of India Line Of Credit (LOC) program. Rwanda as a country is investing in modern agriculture project and is at the forefront of using latest technology to improve productivity. They have taken impressive strides in value added agriculture.

This is an Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contract. JISL has full responsibility of development infrastructure for various irrigation systems viz. Sprinkler Irrigation, Center pivot & pipe hydrant system. Important to note here that all irrigation systems will work under gravity and as EPC contractor JISL has ability to design the same. The total area under irrigation is 1220 Ha. Also, there is component of watershed development and capacity building for over 1752 Ha.

JISL intends to complete the project in next 18 months. This will help JISL to grow its exports substantially.
