Jet Airways (India) surges 6.4% in 2 days

On BSE, 3.49 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 9.78 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 639.60 and a low of Rs 630 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 688.30 on 28 January 2013. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 253.50 on 1 February 2012.

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 31 January 2013, surging 11.45% compared with the Sensex's 2.41% rise. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, jumping 85.26% as against Sensex's 7.51% surge.

The mid-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 86.33 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Shares of Jet Airways (India) have surged 6.49% in two trading sessions from Rs 596.20 on 30 January 2013, on speculation that Etihad Airways will buy a stake in the firm after the Ministry of Commerce & Industry on Thursday, 31 January 2013, said that a delegation of Jet Airways and Etihad Airlines of UAE including Mr. Naresh Goyal, Chairman Jet Airways and James Hogan, President and CEO of Etihad Airways met Union Minister of Commerce Industry and Textiles Mr. Anand Sharma. The stock had surged 4.34% to Rs 622.10 on Thursday, 31 January 2013.

The delegation briefed the minister about their plans in India in the wake of liberalization of FDI regime in the aviation sector. Mr Sharma said that the government has put in place an enabling policy and any investment under the policy is welcome.

Jet Airways (India) reported a net loss of Rs 99.67 crore in Q2 September 2012, lower than net loss of Rs 713.60 crore in Q2 September 2011. Net sales rose 20.3% to Rs 3755.28 crore in Q2 September 2012 over Q2 September 2011. The company announces Q3 December 2012 results today, 1 February 2013.

Jet Airways (India) connects 20 international destinations and operates flights to and from 53 destinations in India.
