Losses on diesel sale declines to Rs 2.8 per liter

Overall daily sales losses have declined to Rs 262 crore per day

The losses of oil market companies (OMCs) on sale of diesel have dipped to mere Rs 2.80 per litre effective from 01 June 2014, supported by continued diesel prices hike and gains in the Rupee.

The losses have fallen consistently from Rs 8.37 per litter in early March 2014 with the gain in the Rupee on expectations of stable government. The diesel sales losses have declined from Rs 4.41 per liter in the previous fortnight beginning 16 May 2014, while were lower compared to Rs 4.87 per liter a year ago.

Besides diesel, the OMCs are incurring losses of Rs 32.87 a litre on kerosene and Rs 432.50 on LPG cylinder.

The overall daily losses on sales of diesel, kerosene and LPG have declined to Rs 262 crore per day compared to Rs 318 crore in the previous fortnight and Rs 276 crore a year ago.
