Market slips in volatile early trade

Key indices drifted lower in volatile early trade as profit booking emerged after three days of upmove. At 9:28 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was down 28 points or 0.07% at 37,613.27. The Nifty 50 index was down 3.75 points or 0.03% at 11,101.60.

The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index was up 0.16%. The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 0.37%. Both these indices outperformed the Sensex.

The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was strong. On the BSE, 813 shares rose and 530 shares fell. A total of 83 shares were unchanged.

Power Grid Corporation of India rose 0.9%. The company's board of directors has accorded investment approval for Transmission System for Solar Energy Zones in Rajasthan at an estimated cost of Rs 2578.47 crore with commissioning schedule as December, 2020.
