Turnover on NSE's F&O segment drops
The April 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 7,583.05, a premium of 27.85 points compared with Nifty's closing of 7,555.20 in the cash market. The Nifty May 2016 futures traded at 7,614.60, a premium of 59.40 points compared with the spot closing for the index.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 1.69 lakh crore, which was lower than turnover of Rs 2.22 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.
In the cash market, the Nifty rose 8.75 points or 0.12% to settle at 7,555.20, its highest closing level since 6 April 2016.
Reliance Industries (RIL), Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki India, Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra), and State Bank of India (SBI) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. RIL April 2016 futures traded at 1,041.80, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1,035. Tata Steel April 2016 futures traded at 323.80, at a premium compared with spot closing of 322.70. Maruti Suzuki India April 2016 futures traded at 3,460, at a premium compared with spot closing of 3,437.05.
RInfra April 2016 futures traded at 544, at a premium compared with spot closing of 541.25. SBI April 2016 futures traded at 184.25, at a premium compared with spot closing of 183.45.
The April 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 April 2016. The May 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 26 May 2016.
