MCX spurted 5% to Rs 322.20 and topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group. The stock extended two-day 10.24% gain.
Strides Arcolab surged 2.8% to Rs 830.15. The stock was second biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Gitanjali Gems gained 1.63% to Rs 78. The stock was third biggest gainer in 'A' group.
CESC advanced 1.1% to Rs 298.15 and was fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Infosys rose 0.91% to Rs 3,058.10 and was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group. The IT major rose as the rupee today, 27 August 2013 hit a fresh record low against the dollar. A weak rupee boosts revenue of IT firms in rupee terms as the sector derives a lion's share of revenue from exports.
The rupee hit a record low below 66 against the dollar today, 27 August 2013, as a steep decline in the domestic stock market following the approval of the food security bill in the lower house of parliament hurt sentiment. The partially convertible rupee was trading at 65.98 per dollar, sharply lower than its close of 64.30 on Monday, 26 August 2013.
