On BSE, 10,786 shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 5,851 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 374 and a low of Rs 357.90 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 305 on Friday, 16 December 2011. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 621.25 on 24 January 2011.

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 16 December 2011, falling 12.96% compared with the Sensex's fall of 7.66%. The scrip had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, declining 30.13% as against 8.52% decline in the Sensex.

The mid-cap firm has equity capital of Rs 64.34 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Monnet Ispat's net profit rose 17.3% to Rs 76.94 crore on 27.1%

growth in net sales to Rs 458.55 crore in Q2 September 2011 over Q2 September 2010.

Monnet Ispat's principal activities include manufacturing and marketing of sponge iron, steel and ferro alloys. It is also engaged in mining of mineral assets like coal and iron ore and is also involved in the generation of power for captive consumption.
