De-hoarding operations have been further intensified by the states to check hoarding of the pulses. More than 35,000 MT pulses have been seized across the states. The amendment has been made recently in the Central Order under Essential Commodities Act to enable States to impose stock limits on pulses sourced from imports, held by exporters, large food processing units as well as large departmental retailers. The States were exhorted to carryout surprise inspections and raids to prevent hoarding of pulses.
In a bid to increase the availability of pulses, in Haryana MD, HADED has been directed to procure pulses from the market and sell it through its outlets to bring down the prices.
In Uttarakhand, Retail counters of pulse have been opened in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udhamsingh Nagar by Mandisamitis through which arhar dal is provided @ Rs 145 per Kg. Instructions have been given to all districts to provide pulses at the decided price through Fair price shops.
In Delhi, tur dal is being sold at Rs. 120/Kg through outlets of Safal and KendriyaBhandar.
As per information received from Tamil Nadu Government, 1Kg of Urad is being sold @ Rs. 30 / Kg in the state while Government outlets in Andhra Pradesh and in Telangana are distributing one Kg of Red gram @ Rs. 50/Kg.
