Nalco jumps after strong Q3 outcome

National Aluminium Company rose 4.55% to Rs 51.75 at 9:21 IST on BSE after net profit surged 170.52% to Rs 354.47 crore on 16.6% growth in total income to Rs 2057.61 crore in Q3 December 2014 over Q3 December 2013.

The result was announced after market hours yesterday, 10 February 2015.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 146.39 points, or 0.52%, to 28,502.01.

On BSE, so far 1.58 lakh shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 2.79 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 52.80 and a low of Rs 51.15 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 68.80 on 19 September 2014. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 31.80 on 20 February 2014.

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 10 February 2015, falling 1.98% compared with 3.27% rise in the Sensex. The scrip had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, falling 16.10% as against Sensex's 1.73% rise.

National Aluminium Company's (Nalco) is a Navratna CPSE under Ministry of Mines, Government of India. The company has integrated and diversified operations in mining, metal and power. Presently, Government of India holds 80.93% equity of Nalco.
