New Delhi Television to deposit Rs 10 lakh for Jammu & Kashmir State Legal Services Authority

As per order dated 18 April 2018 of Delhi High Court

New Delhi Television announced that with reference to Writ Petition (Civil) No. 3725 of 2018, wherein Hon'ble Delhi High Court has taken suo moto cognizance of reporting by media of an incident of January 2018 of gang rape and murder of an eight-year-old victim in Kathua District, Jammu & Kashmir, in a manner which revealed the identity of victim. The Company has been impleaded as Respondent No.10 in said petition.

The Company announced that during the Court proceedings on 18 April 2018, Company as well as the other Respondent media houses submitted their willingness to deposit amounts with the Jammu & Kashmir State Legal Services Authority to be used towards compensation to victims and families of victims of sexual violence. Accordingly, the Company will be depositing an amount of Rs. 10 lakh in the name of Registrar General of Hon'ble Delhi High Court, to be transmitted to the Jammu & Kashmir State Legal Services Authority, as per the order dated 18 April 2018 of Hon'ble Delhi High Court in matter.
