VIX eases for third day
The Nifty October 2019 futures were at 11,604.50, a premium of 20.6 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 11,583.90 in the cash market.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 9.24 lakh crore compared with Rs 28.81 lakh crore reported in the previous session.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 1.3 points or 0.01% to settle at 11,583.90.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term slipped for third consecutive session. India VIX closed below 16 for the first time since 18 October 2019. The VIX index fell 5.77% at 15.3025.
On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 31 October 2019 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 34.85 lakh contracts at the 12,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 29.00 lakh contracts was seen at 11,000 strike price. Options data suggested a trading range between 11,000 and 12,000 levels for the Nifty.

State Bank of India (SBI), Interglobe Aviation and ICICI Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI October 2019 futures were at 282.80, compared with spot closing price of 282.35. Interglobe Aviation October 2019 futures were at 1,474.70 compared with spot closing price of 1469.50. RIL October 2019 futures were at 470.25, compared with spot closing price of 469.2.
The October 2019 F&O contracts expire on 31 October 2019.
