RIL, SBI and HDFC most active in futures segment.
The Nifty October 2019 futures was at 11,853.90, a premium of 9.80 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 11,844.10 in the cash market.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 14 lakh crore compared with Rs 12.36 lakh crore reported in the previous session.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 57.25 points or 0.49% to settle at 11,844.10.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, rose 1.58% at 16.68.
On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 31 October 2019 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 32.86 lakh contracts at the 12,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 29.75 lakh contracts was seen at 11,800 strike price. Options data suggested a trading range between 11,800 and 12,000 levels for the Nifty.
Reliance Industries (RIL), State Bank of India (SBI) and Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE.

RIL October 2019 futures were at 1,480.05, compared with spot closing price of 1,482.60. SBI October 2019 futures were at 290.20 compared with spot closing price of 290.40. HDFC October 2019 futures were at 2,103.10, compared with spot closing price of 2,103.
The October 2019 F&O contracts expires tomorrow, 31 October 2019.
