The 50-unit CNX was up 17.35 points or 0.24% to 7,253 at 11:54 IST, with the index recovering sharply from an early intraday slide triggered by fall in seven stocks.
At 11:54 IST, the BSE Sensex was up 52.76 points, or 0.22%, to 24286.91. At the day's low of 24,167.94 hit in early trade, the Sensex fell as much as 0.27%.
However, the 50-unit CNX dropped as much as 1.61% at the day's low of 7,118.45, hit in early trade.
Normally, the key benchmark indices and stock prices of their components move in tandem as any mispricing creates arbitrage opportunity.
However, the NSE Nifty registered steeper fall at the day's low today compared to the S&P BSE Sensex. This was due to a sharper fall registered in share prices of seven stocks on NSE as compared to BSE.
