F&O turnover rises
The September 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,659, at a premium of 51.55 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8,607.45 in the cash market. The Nifty October 2016 futures traded at 8,692.30, at a premium of 84.85 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 2.29 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 2.23 lakh crore registered on Friday, 26 August 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty rose 34.90 points or 0.41% to settle at 8,607.45, its highest closing level since 24 August 2016.
Tata Motors, Reliance Capital, Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Reliance Infrastructure and State Bank of India (SBI) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Tata Motors September 2016 futures traded at 528.85, at a premium compared with spot closing of 525.15. Reliance Capital September 2016 futures traded at 523.10, at a discount compared with spot closing of 529.05. IOCL September 2016 futures traded at 566.10, at a discount compared with spot closing of 571.50.
Reliance Infrastructure September 2016 futures traded at 594.75, at a discount compared with spot closing of 598.35. SBI September 2016 futures traded at 250.80, at a premium compared with spot closing of 249.45.
The September 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 September 2016. The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 27 October 2016.
