Nikkei falls on China woes, geopolitical concerns

Japan share market has closed down on Tuesday, 05 January 2016, following drop in the offshore market overnight, on worries about the global fallout of slowing growth in China. Meanwhile, concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East eventually pushing investors into a risk-off mood. Total 20 out of 33 TOPIX sectors recorded losses, with Fishery, Agriculture & Forestry, Insurance, Transportation Equipment, Pharmaceutical, and Oil & Coal Products issues being major losers. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average declined 76.98 points, or 0.42%, to 18374. The Topix index of all Tokyo Stock Exchange First Section issues lost 4.96 points, or 0.33%, to 1504.71.
