Shares of four oil exploration and production firms rose 1.28% to 3.3% at 9:44 IST on BSE on surge in international crude oil prices.

Cairn India (up 3.3% at Rs 153.25), Oil India (up 1.94% at Rs 309.50), ONGC (up 1.94% at Rs 210.45) and Reliance Industries (up 1.28% at Rs 1,034.80) edged higher.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 257.28 points or 1.04% at 24,939.76.
