Revenues up 2.8% to Rs 60935.36 crore in April-July 2019
The Indian Railway (IR) has recorded 2.0% growth in its overall revenues to Rs 14937.62 crore in July 2019 over July 2018. The IR revenues had moved up 10.7% to Rs 14640.59 crore in July 2018.The passenger earnings increased 5.8% to Rs 4724.84 crore in July 2019, against 6.4% growth recorded in July 2018. The earnings from freight traffic, accounting for 64.1% of the total revenue, rose 1.5% to Rs 9570.79 crore in July 2019. The other coaching revenue declined 1.9% to Rs 356.48 crore, while the revenue from sundry activities also dipped 25.9% to Rs 285.51 crore in July 2019.
In April-July FY2020, the revenue earnings of IR improved 2.8% to Rs 60935.36 crore, compared with 6.2% growth recorded in April-July FY2019. Further, the IR revenues have been below the budget target of Rs 66863.52 crore for the above mentioned period. The goods revenue moved up 2.9% to Rs 40356.44 crore, while the passenger revenue increased 6.0% to Rs 18192.60 crore. The other coaching revenue increased 2.5% to Rs 1626.08 crore, but the sundry earnings dipped 42.4% to Rs 760.24 crore in April-July FY2020.
