SeQuent Scientific gains after opening new analytical services centre at Bengaluru

SeQuent Scientific rose 2.75% to Rs 842 at 14:18 IST on BSE after the company announced that its wholly owned subsidiary SeQuent Research has opened its new Good Laboratory Practices compliant Analytical Services Centre at Bengaluru.

The company made the announcement during market hours today, 11 September 2015.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 34.26 points or 0.13% at 25,656.43.

On BSE, so far 5,879 shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 15,486 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 856 and a low of Rs 825 so far during the day. The stock had hit a record high of Rs 889 on 28 August 2015. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 391.15 on 24 November 2014.

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 10 September 2015, rising 0.86% compared with Sensex's 8.82% fall. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, surging 21.63% as against Sensex's 4.54% fall.

Built with a laboratory space of 10,000 square feet and latest analytical equipment, the new Bengaluru centre will enable company's access to a wider range of therapies including Beta Lactam and Hormones, SeQuent Scientific said in a statement.

On a consolidated basis, Sequent Scientific reported net profit of Rs 0.74 crore in Q1 June 2015 as against net loss of Rs 11.41 crore in Q1 June 2014. Net sales rose 31.6% to Rs 146.66 crore in Q1 June 2015 over Q1 June 2014.
