Sharda Cropchem gained 3.91% to Rs 261.50 at 14:51 IST on BSE after a domestic mutual fund bought 1.07% stake in the company on Wednesday, 24 September 2014

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 235.59 points, or 0.88%, to 26,509.10

On BSE, so far 19.65 lakh shares were traded in the counter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 268.80 and a low of Rs 254 so far during the day. The stock hit a record high of Rs 273.85 on 23 September 2014. The stock hit a record low of Rs 217.60 on 24 September 2014.

The small-cap company has equity capital of Rs 90.22 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

HDFC MF Prudence FD bought 9.70 lakh shares of Sharda Cropchem at an average price of Rs 241.64 per share in a bulk deal on NSE on Wednesday, 24 September 2014.

Sharda Cropchem is a crop protection chemical company marketing and distributing a wide range of formulations and generic active ingredients globally. While more than 90% of the sales comprising formulations, the company is also in order-based procurement and supply of belts, generic chemicals, dyes and dye intermediates. The company's core strength lies in identifying generic molecules, preparing dossiers, seeking registrations, marketing and distributing formulations in fungicide, herbicide and insecticide segments.
