Stocks may see soft opening

Trading of Nifty 50 index futures on the Singapore stock exchange indicates that the Nifty could fall 12 points at the opening bell. Cipla and Lupin will unveil their quarterly results today, 6 November 2019.

Overseas, Asian stocks were trading lower on Wednesday as investors awaited new developments toward scaling back a bruising trade war between the United States and China.

US stocks were mixed on Tuesday as investors paused in the wake of a rally buoyed by hopes of a trade deal between the United States and China that sent the three main U.S. stock indexes to record highs in the previous session.

Back home,key equity indices declined on Tuesday, as investors locked profits after seven-day rising streak. The barometer index, the BSE Sensex fell 53.73 points or 0.13% to close at a 40,248.23. The Nifty 50 index fell 24.10 points or 0.20% to close at a 11,917.20.

The trading activity on that day showed that the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 473.17 crore yesterday, 5 November 2019, as per provisional data released by the stock exchanges. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 1593.71 crore yesterday, 5 November 2019, as per provisional data.
