Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers jumped 10.34% to Rs 372.80 at 12:00 IST on BSE after the company announced resumption of normal operation of the plant from today, 27 July 2017 after the availability of water.
The announcement was made before market hours today, 27 July 2017.Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 240.89 points or 0.74% at 32,623.35. The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 14.59 points or 0.09% at 16,113.23.
High volumes were witnessed on the counter. On the BSE, 72,209 shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 30,493 shares in the past one quarter. The stock had hit a high of Rs 373.65 and a low of Rs 340 so far during the day. The stock had hit a record high of Rs 392.45 on 13 October 2016 and a 52-week low of Rs 275.25 on 28 July 2016.
The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 26 July 2017, gaining 4.37% compared with the Sensex's 4% rise. The stock had also outperformed the market over the past one quarter, rising 14.54% as against the Sensex's 7.46% rise. The scrip had also outperformed the market over the past one year, gaining 21.49% as against the Sensex's 15.75% rise.
The small-cap company has equity capital of Rs 69.21 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.
Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers' net profit fell 39.2% to Rs 63.41 crore on 8.9% rise in net sales to Rs 793.76 crore in Q4 March 2017 over Q4 March 2016.
