Telecom stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 23.69 points or 2.42% at 955.3 at 13:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 3.27%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 2.78%),GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.27%),HFCL Ltd (down 2.01%),Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 1.98%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Tejas Networks Ltd (down 1.76%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 1.47%), and ITI Ltd (down 0.37%).
On the other hand, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 3.02%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 2.31%), and OnMobile Global Ltd (up 0.64%) moved up.
At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 207.35 or 0.53% at 39171.19.
The Nifty 50 index was up 50.9 points or 0.44% at 11639.25.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 61.59 points or 0.47% at 13251.96.

On BSE,1176 shares were trading in green, 1154 were trading in red and 181 were unchanged.
