Turnover jumps in NSE F&O segment

VIX below 17 for second day in a row

The Nifty October 2019 futures were at 11,483.60, a premium 12.05 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 11,471.55 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 12.07 lakh crore compared with Rs 9.30 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 43.25 points or 0.38% to settle at 11,471.55.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, fell 3.44% at 16.27.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 31 October 2019 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 23.89 lakh contracts at the 12,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 29.62 lakh contracts was seen at 11,000 strike price. Options data suggested a trading range between 11,000 and 12,000 levels for the Nifty in October series.

Bajaj Finance, State Bank of India (SBI) and Axis Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Bajaj Finance October 2019 futures were at 4,042.10, compared with spot closing price of 4025. SBI October 2019 futures were at 257 compared with spot closing price of 255.95. Axis Bank October 2019 futures were at 696.1, compared with spot closing price of 692.65.
