Nifty July futures trade at premium to spot price
The June 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,135, at a premium of 7.15 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8,127.85 in the cash market. The Nifty July 2016 futures traded at 8,165, at a premium of 37.15 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment fell to Rs 3.76 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 4.09 lakh crore registered on Monday, 27 June 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 33.15 points or 0.41% to settle at 8,127.85, its highest closing level since 23 June 2016.
State Bank of India (SBI), Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and Yes Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI June 2016 futures traded at 216.55, at a premium compared with spot closing of 215.70. Tata Motors June 2016 futures traded at 442.20, at a premium compared with spot closing of 441. HDFC Bank June 2016 futures traded at 1,161.25, at a discount compared with spot closing of 1,169.30.
Axis Bank June 2016 futures traded at 514.25, at a premium compared with spot closing of 513. Yes Bank June 2016 futures traded at 1,070.50, at a premium to spot closing of 1,067.70.
The June 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 30 June 2016. The July 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 July 2016.
