Turnover spurts in F&O segment

India VIX cools 4%

The Nifty October 2019 futures were at 11,362.30, a premium of 49 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 11,313.30 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 15.58 lakh crore compared with Rs 8.66 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index gained 186.90 points or 1.68% to settle at 11,313.30. The index crossed its 200-day simple moving average placed at 11,266.70.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, fell 4.13% at 17.0925.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 31 October 2019 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 27.35 lakh contracts at the 11,200 strike price. Maximum put OI of 28.36 lakh contracts was seen at 11,000 strike price. Options data suggested a trading range between 11,000 and 11,200 levels for the Nifty in October series.

State Bank of India, ICICI Bank and Titan Company were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI October 2019 futures were at 262.45, compared with spot closing price of 261.80. ICICI Bank October 2019 futures were at 437.15 compared with spot closing price of 436.50. Titan Company October 2019 futures were at 1,233.80, compared with spot closing price of 1,230.40.

The October 2019 F&O contracts expire on 31 October 2019.
