UCO Bank tumbles after weak Q4 results

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 4.57 points, or 0.02%, to 19,893.52.

On BSE, 12.64 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against an average daily volume of 3.05 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 72.50 and a low of Rs 68 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 86.65 on 9 January 2013. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 54.05 on 28 February 2013.

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 7 May 2013, rising 23.65% compared with the Sensex's 7.80% rise. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 8.25% as against Sensex's 1.58% rise.

The mid-cap public sector bank has an equity capital of Rs 752.63 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

UCO Bank's net profit fell 44.24% to Rs 618.19 crore on 13.5% rise in operating income to Rs 17703.88 crore in the year ended March 2013 over the year ended March 2012.

The bank's ratio of net non-performing assets (NPA) to net advances stood at 3.17% as on 31 March 2013, compared with 3.32% as on 31 December 2012 and 1.96% as on 31 March 2012.

The bank's ratio of gross NPAs to gross advances stood at 5.42% as on 31 March 2013, compared with 5.53% as on 31 December 2012 and 3.48% as on 31 March 2012.

Provisions and contingencies surged 114.1% to Rs 976.66 crore in Q4 March 2013 over Q4 March 2012.

The bank's Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) as per Basel II norms stood at 14.22% as on 31 March 2013, compared with 13.19% as on 31 December 2012 and 12.35% as on 31 March 2012.

The board of UCO Bank recommended a dividend of Re 1 per share for the year ended March 2013.

Government of India holds 69.26% stake in UCO Bank (as on 31 March 2013).
