Borosil Glass Works clocked volume of 1.35 lakh shares by 13:30 IST on BSE, a 250.02-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 1,000 shares. The stock rose 0.71% at Rs 706.
Trent notched up volume of 1.40 lakh shares, a 60.05-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 2,000 shares. The stock jumped 8.21% at Rs 1154.10 after the company after market hours on Tuesday, 17 December 2013, said that the company is in discussions with British retailer Tesco regarding an investment by Tesco in Trent Hypermarket (THL) which operates the Star Bazaar retail business and is engaged in multi-brand retail trading. Tesco is making an application to the Foreign Investment Promotion Board. If the application is successful, the intent would be to enter into a partnership where Trent and Tesco will each own a 50% stake in THL.
PI Industries saw volume of 4.40 lakh shares, a 23.62-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 19,000 shares. The stock rose 1.91% at Rs 246.05 after a block deal of 4 lakh shares was executed in the counter on BSE at Rs 250 per share at 10:24 IST. The block deal constitutes 0.29% of PI Industries' equity.
IPCA Laboratories clocked volume of 1.84 lakh shares, a 22.35-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 8,000 shares. The stock rose 0.07% at Rs 676.
Star Ferro and Cement clocked volume of 25.84 lakh shares, a 14.56-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.78 lakh shares. The stock rose 1.01% at Rs 20.10.
