Volumes jump at Marico counter

Strides Arcolab, Opto Circuits (India), Tata Power Company, and Asian Paints are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 7 August 2013.

Marico clocked volume of 24.05 lakh shares by 13:36 IST on BSE, a 116.98-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 21,000 shares. The stock lost 3.61% to Rs 200.25 after three bulk deals aggregating 3.60 lakh shares were executed on BSE at Rs 200 per share.

A block deal of 1.6 lakh shares was executed at 10:27 IST. Another block deal of 1.32 lakh shares was executed at 10:40 IST while the third block deal of 68,029 shares was executed at 10:41 IST. The three block deals constitute 0.05% of Marico's equity.

Strides Arcolab notched up volume of 6.50 lakh shares, a 6.47-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1 lakh shares. The stock jumped 13.92% to Rs 791.05 after the finance ministry on Tuesday, 6 August 2013, said that the government has kept in abeyance decision on Strides Arcolab's proposal to sell its specialties subsidiary, Agila Specialties to US based Mylan Inc. till DIPP finalizes policy on FDI in brown field pharma projects involving transfer of control. Strides Arcolab had in February 2013 announced the sell of Agila Specialties to Mylan Inc. for a net consideration of about $1.725 billion.

Opto Circuits (India) clocked volume of 29.77 lakh shares, a 2.48-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 12 lakh shares. The stock galloped 20.42% to Rs 22.70.

Tata Power Company saw volume of 11.05 lakh shares, a 2.48-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 4.46 lakh shares. The stock rose 3.08% to Rs 73.55.

Asian Paints saw volume of 1.95 lakh shares, a 2.16-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 90,000 shares. The stock lost 4.95% to Rs 416.
