An 11-year-old Australian boy accused of participating in a murder has planned to apply for bail, a court heard on Tuesday.

Appearing before Perth Children's Court, the boy's defence counsel said they would make a formal request for the magistrate to grant bail when the accused next is presented before the court on February 17, Xinhua news agency reported.

On February 5, the boy was charged with homicide in relation to a all-in brawl involving around 20 people, which erupted at a Western Australian train station.

During the scuffle, which according to witnesses involved two groups hurling bricks at each other, a 26-year-old male was stabbed and later died in hospital.

Three other males have also been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing.

The 11-year-old is one of the youngest Australians ever charged with murder.
