Protesting against the apex court order banning firecrackers due to air pollution concerns around Diwali, 14 persons including three women were detained on Tuesday for bursting firecrackers in front of the Supreme Court here.
Police said a call was made to the Police Control Room (PCR) at around 6 p.m regarding some persons demonstrating and bursting firecrackers in front of 'D' gate of the Supreme Court.
"The Station House Officer (SHO) of Tilak Marg Police Station, along with other police personnel, reached the spot and brought the situation under control," Deputy Commissioner of Police B.K. Singh said.
The protesters belonged to a little known outfit "Azad Hind Fauz" and they were protesting against the Supreme Court order, Singh said.
They 14 persons, led by one Satpal Malhotra were arrested and later released, the police officer added.
