A victim of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots on Wednesday sought time from a Delhi court to file an application opposing a closure report filed in a case against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in connection with the riots.

Advocate H.S. Phoolka, appearing for victim and complainant Lakhvinder Kaur, whose husband Badal Singh was killed in the riots, told Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Saurabh Pratap Singh Laler that he needs time to file a protest petition against the closure report filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The court posted the matter for further hearing for June 3. For the third time, the CBI has filed a closure report with regard to Tytler.

The probe agency had earlier given clean chit twice to the Congress leader.

In April 2013, a sessions court had rejected the closure report and ordered the probe agency to further investigate the killings.

Acting on its direction, the CBI conducted further probe but filed another closure report before Magistrate Laler on December 24, 2014.
