2,339 constables clear Delhi Police training course

A total of 2,339 constables, including 37 women, passed out of the Delhi Police training centre here Friday and are set to join the around 85,000-strong force.

The constables, belonging to nine states, were the 96-97th batch at the Jharoda Kalan police training centre.

Of the constables, 790 are from Haryana, 742 from Rajasthan, 550 from Uttar Pradesh, 244 from Delhi, four from Uttarakhand, three from Bihar, two each from Punjab and Kerala while one hails from Himachal Pradesh.

"Of them, the 2,302 male constables are from batch number 96 while 37 women constables belong to 97th batch," said a police officer.

Many of them are well-educated. Two of them have M.Sc. degrees, seven are B.Tech, there is one with an MBA, 10 are M.Com, 20 B.Com, 32 hold Bachelor of Computer Science (BCA) degrees, 22 are Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) degree holders, 355 have B.Sc, 21 are B.Ed, and 27 have M.A degrees.

"In spite of getting commando training, the constables are specially trained to handle mobs during riot-like situations. They are also given training to deal with women, children and the weaker sections of society," the officer added.
