Around 2.5 lakh village-level meetings will be organised for the consultation of formulating the new education policy, the government said on Monday.
The decision was taken in a meeting of parliament's Consultative Committee for the human resource development.
A presentation made by Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani "highlighted the need for formulating the new education policy which aims at meeting the 21st century challenges - globalization and liberalization."
"Under Grassroot Consultative process, around 2.5 lakh meetings will be held at village level; approximately 6,600 meetings at the block level, 676 at the district level and 3,700 meetings will be held at the urban municipal bodies level," said a statement from the ministry.
