Twenty-two Taliban militants have surrendered in the western Afghan province of Herat, the provincial governor said.
"Two groups of Taliban consisting of 22 people renounced violence and joined the government-backed peace and reconciliation process in Herat on Sunday afternoon," Seyyed Fazlullah Wahhidi told Xinhua.
The militants were active in Shindand and Injil districts, he said.
The Taliban outfit did not make any comment.
