Requests for mobile number portability (MNP) went up by 3.64 million in November 2014, an official statement said here Wednesday.
"In the month of November, 2014, 3.64 million subscribers submitted their requests for MNP. With this, the cumulative MNP requests increased from 135.86 million at the end of October, 2014, to 139.49 million at the end of November, 2014," data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) stated.
The number of telephone subscribers in India increased from 962.63 million at the end of October, 2014, to 964.20 million at the end of November, 2014, thereby showing a monthly growth rate of 0.16 percent.
The urban subscription declined from 570.58 million at the end of October, 2014, to 568.72 million at the end of November, 2014, whereas the rural subscription increased from 392.05 million to 395.48 million during the same period.
The overall tele-density in India increased from 77.07 at the end of October, 2014, to 77.12 at the end of November, 2014.
Total wireless subscriber base increased from 935.35 million at the end of October, 2014, to 937.06 million at the end of November, 2014, thereby registering a monthly growth rate of 0.18 percent.

Wireline subscriber base declined from 27.28 million at the end of October, 2014, to 27.14 million at the end of November, 2014. Net reduction in the wireline subscriber base was 0.14 million at the monthly decline rate of 0.50 percent.
The share of urban and rural subscribers in total wireline subscribers were 80.03 percent and 19.97 percent respectively at the end of November, 2014.
According to the reports received from the service providers, the number of broadband subscribers increased from 79.21 million at the end of October, 2014, to 82.22 million at the end of November, 2014, with monthly growth rate of 3.79 percent, the statement said.
